By the mid 1930s, from the financial pressure of the Great Depression, manufacturing was moving away from the flowing, intricate designs of the Art Deco style to a more cost effective approach in production using straight lines and geometric patterns. Gone were the designers, classically trained in Europe, to designs mandated by the bottom line. (Yes the exuberant designs of the Art Deco period were decimated by wall street.) So here we have a wonderful example of early mid century Moderne design. Made from cast aluminum with its original polished aluminum accents re-polished to a high luster. The warm golden color was also matched from the original color of the fixture. Height: 6 inches. Long width: 11 inches Short width: 6 1/2 inches
