The green top glaze was applied so it would run in the firing process to partially revel the white porcelain body at corners and ridges. Note that the bottom pull and socket retaining nut, both vintage porcelain, are painted green and not glazed green. Some crazing on both fixtures and as the experts have said on Antiques Roadshow the crazing is an indicator of their age and not a bad thing. Nicely angled Art Deco skyscraper design influence commonly seen in the 1930s. Both in excellent condition with no noticeable chips or cracks. Socket pull switches have been rebuilt, not just cleaned or lubricated, to insure decades more of usable life. Bulbs not included. A close up shows the two you will receive.
