Late 20s Art Deco Chandelier

Item Code: CEI20161116001
Sold
Year : 1920-1930
Fabulous example of the powerful artistry design found in Art Deco design in the late 1920s. And rare. In 20 years I can remember only seeing one of these chandeliers complete and this is it. Looks like it could be the home version of a massive music hall fixture sized to fit above your dining room table.
The highly polished aluminum frame work nicely holds the honey yellow glass slip shades.
So much is going on in this masterpiece, the bold deco inspired floral pattern on the 5 slip shades is echoed in the 5 round top panels between each shade as well as the 5 arms above the fixture body, the saw tooth band around the perimeter of the fixture body is carried to the large bottom glass shade, the arches in the glass and each panel have the same arc as the 5 flying buttress type arms springing from the top of the center post. And of course those 5 finials, delicately dropping from each arm directly above each light bulb reminding one of crystal drops but catching light in a way crystals cannot.
Drop as shown is 33 1/2 inches which can be altered to your needs.
Width is 17 inches.
Holds seven light bulbs, five around the outside and two inside the bottom glass.
75 watt max in each socket.
